CARL MCELREATH

Birth record, draft card and grave marker for Carl McElreath.

Born in Canton (Haywood county), North Carolina on 11 August 1910 according to the Delayed Births Register (line 2) his birth year shows as 1911 on the other two items above. It was also recorded as 1911 on his enlistment record.

Carl enlisted in the Army in Portland, OR on 19 November 1943.  His stated occupation of "Farmer" leaves one to wonder how and why he crossed the country from his native North Carolina.

Pvt McElreath was initially assigned to Service Company but when the Bulge broke out he was mover to Company D as a rifleman.

Her was listed as seriously wounded on 25 December 1944 and evacuated.  He died not return to the regiment.

Pvt McElreath's military decorations include the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
