Grave marker for William J. McEneany in the Elmwood Cemetery, Great Barrington (Berkshire county), Massachusetts.

1st Lt. McEneany transferred from the 82nd Airborne Brigade on detached Service with Company D, 508th on 24 July 1944. On 18 August 1944 he was transferred to Service Company as the Executive Officer.

On 4 January 1945 he was sent to Company B which was then on the front line during the battle of The Bulge.  He probably served as a platoon leader and he was awarded the CIB "for action during the campaign, 18 Dec 1944 to 20 Feb 1945."
