ERIC H. MEHNER

Eric, a native of Auerbach (Saxon), Germany, arrived in the New York, NY at the age of 2 aboard the S.S. Columbus on 7 June 1926.

He enlisted in the Army at Fort Dix, NJ on 25 May 1944.

Pvt Mehner submitted a Petition For Naturalization to the District Court of Georgia.  At  the time he was a Private in Co B, 15th Infantry Training Battalion, Camp Wheeler, GA.  He made an Oath of Renunciation and Allegiance on 4 August 1944 and the petition was granted.

A certificate showing he was admitted as a citizen on 4 August 1944 completed the process.

Pfc Mehner was transferred from either 504th or 505th PIR on 26 October 1945.  The special order making the assignment lumped a number of transfers together without stating which individuals came from the originating regiments.

He was discharged on 4 June 1946.
