Grave marker for Thomas F. Melia in Section 14, Site 705, Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton (Suffolk county), New York.

Thomas enlisted in the New York National Guard on 18 September 1940 and was discharged on 4 October 1941.

Apparently recalled to duty, he enlisted in the Army on 3 June 1942 at Fort Jay, Govenors Island, NY.

On 3 June 1945, Pvt Melia was transferred from the 6900th Reinforcement Depot to Company D, 508th PIR.

Pfc Melia was transferred from Company  to the 506th PIR on 13 October 1945.

He was discharged on 21 February 1946.
