CHERRYVILLE — A wedding:
of dignity and beauty took place . the First Presbyterian Church,
Cherryville, on Saturday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock, when Miss Frances Carroll and Coney
Lamar Moffett were united in marriage.
A background of palms, ferns and candelabra set. with cathedral tapers, and three large
arrangements of white gladioli and gypsophlla were used as altar decorations.
The Rev. George L. Riddle )pastor of the bride, officiated. using
the double-ring ceremony. A program of music was presented by Wade H. Strdup. organist, and Mrs. W. L.
Armstrong sang I Love You Truly, by Bond, and, as a benediction Bless You and Keep You, by
Lutkin.
The bride, escorted by her father, Olen L. Carroll, wore a princess style white brocaded
satin gown with long lily-pointed sleeves, portrait neckline, and a bouffant skirt. Her veil of
nylon tulle fell from a satin crown. She carried a white Bible topped
with a yellow-throated white orchid, and showered with lilies-of--tlie-vailey and
stephanotis.
Miss Evelyn Carroll of Charlotte, sister of the bride, was maid o! honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Beth Putnam of Waco and Miss Virginia Witherspoon.
The attendants wore street-length dresses of ice-blue brocaded satin, made in princess styling with full skirts, bandeaux of Ice blue velvet; short
white gloves and strands of pearls.. They carried cascade bouquets for the occasion.
The bridegroom has his father, C. C. Moffett, as best man and ushers were
William L. Carroll of Charlotte, Kenneth Carroll of Cherryville,
brothers of the bride; Boyd E. Hicks of Shelby, brother-in-law of the
bridegroom, Ben N. McKee of Shelby.
Matty Kelly, Bonnie Butler, Henry Rankin III, and Bud Wofford.
Mrs. Carroll, mother of the bride, selected navy lace with
matching lace hat and gloves and a shoulder bouquet of white cymbidium orchids.
Mrs.. Moffett, mother of the bridegroom wore rose lace with matching
accessories and a shoulder bouquet of cymbidium orchids.
The bride, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Olen Leon Carroll, is a graduate of Waco :High School, attended Woman's College Greensboro, and was graduated from Kings Business
College, Charlotte. She has been employed as a receptionist and
secretary at the Carlton Yarn Mills in Cherryville.

The bridegroom, son of Mr.
and Mrs. C.. C. Moffett of Waco attended Waco High, School, served as a paratrooper in the Korean conflict, and
was graduated from ASTC, Boone, with a BS degree. He was a member of
Beta. Beta. Beta; a national biological society, Chi Lamda Chi, and was elected to Who Who in American
Universities and Colleges. He Is employed as a naturalist with the
National Park Service on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Upon return from a trip to the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee, Mr. and Mrs.
Moffett will live in Asheville.
Immediately after the ceremony the bride's parents entertained at a reception at the Cherryville Woman's Club. Rooms
were profusely decorated throughout with ferns and arrangements of
snapdragons and gladioli. Miss Ruth Sperling and Mrs. Deanna Daggerhart presented a program
of music
The receiving line was composed of the bride's parents, the
bridegroom's parents, the bridal couple and the attendants.

CAKE-CUTTING
Following rehearsal on Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. O. L Carroll entertained at a cake-cutting at Cherryville Woman's Club. The ice blue motif was carried out in decorations. Overlaid with an Ice blue cloth and tulle the refreshment table held a branched silver candelabrum arranged with snap-dragons, gypsophlla,
and tall tapers.
At opposite ends of the table were a crystal punch bowl and
three-tier all-white cake. Mints and nuts were served with the cake and punch.
Assisting in serving were Mrs. Evelyn Shivers, Mrs. Deanna Daggerhart, Mrs. George Keel,
Mrs.. George Riddle, Mrs. Eva Ruth Hanver, Miss Sandra Caroil, Miss Sara Froneberger
Miss Beth Putnam. Miss Ruth Siperling, and Miss Soonlc Stroup.
Miss Carroll wore an ice blue rock in brocaded crystalette and a bouquet of white
cymbidium orchids. Forty guests attended the party.

ANNANDALE, Va. - Conley L. Moffett, 80, passed peacefully into the of arms of Christ on Dec. 16, 2012
After graduating from high school, he joined the Army where he was a jumpmaster, medic and airborne ranger during the Korean War.
A graduate of Appalachian State Teacher's College in biology, physics and chemistry, he taught
at Ashley High School in Gastonia, before becoming a North Carolina State Naturalist. Later, he joined the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service from which he retired as Assistant Deputy Director.
Conley's life was centered on family, friends and a deep commitment to Christ. He was the beloved husband of Frances Moffett and devoted father of Carol Moffett.
Memorial gifts may be given to Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church building fund at 5725 Castlewellan Drive, Kingstown, Va. 22315-5516.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenter's Funeral Home, Cherryville.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
