ARTHUR SCOTT MONTFORT

Scott Montfort, 69, of La Grange, died Saturday at his home. He was the former owner and operator of La Grange Auto Supply; an Army veteran of World War II; chairman of the La Grange Fire Department operations board; a former member of the La Grange City Council and the La Grange Utilities Commission; and a member of the American Legion and De Haven Baptist Church. Survivors: his wife, the former Sibyl Brent Porter; a daughter, Carol Montfort; two stepdaughters, Lisa Forkner of La Grange and Linda Eversole; a brother, Dr. Russell Montfort of Charlotte, N.C.; and four grandchildren. Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Arch L. Heady Radcliffe Funeral Home, La Grange. Burial: Valley of Rest Cemetery, La Grange. Visitation: 5-9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial gifts: his church or Hospice of Louisville.

Scott registered for the draft in LaGrange, KY on 26 November 1943 and was inducted into the Army on 6 June 1944.

On 10 October 1945, Pfc Montfort was transferred from the 505th PIR to Hq 2nd, 508th PIR.

He was discharged on 4 June 1946.
