ESME E. MOORE

   PEKIN - Esme Eugene "Dempsey" Moore, 78, of 1507 N. 12th St. died at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas.
   Born Dec. 23, 1925, in Rushville to William and Nancy Rittenhouse Moore, he married Emma Lou Hosford on Oct. 20, 1946, in Mount Sterling. She died May 15, 1998, in Pekin. He then married Dorothy Ann Walters Lairson in June of 1999, in Pekin. She died July 25, 2003, in Peoria. He also was preceded in death by one brother.
   Surviving are one son, Roger of Pekin; one daughter, Carol (and Ken) Brandt of Las Vegas; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one half-brother, William Ingles of Washington state.
   He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the European Theater as a paratrooper with both the 82nd Airborne Division and the 101st Airborne Division "Screaming Eagles."
   He worked in the steel mill at Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville for 30 years, retiring from the ARC shop in 1986.
   He was a member of the Roy L. King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1232, William Schaefer American Legion Post 44 for over 30 years and the Pekin Moose Lodge 916.
   Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, with graveside military honors provided by Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
