LACY E. MOORE

   Pfc. Lacy E. Moore, husband ol Myrtle Moore', Route 3, Kings- will arrive in the United States, November 1 it has been announced by the War Department
   Private Moore entered the service October 28, 1942, at Camp Blanding, Fla. He received basic training at Camp Blanding and six weeks training at Parachute School at Fort Benning, Ga. From there he went to Camp Mackall, N. C, serving eight months in the 508th Parachute Infantry. He served 24 months 'overseas in the 82nd Airborne Division in Cassino, Aniio, Holland, Ardennes and Germany.
   He 'wears five battle stars, the Presidential Citation, with cluster, Combat Infantry Badge and Good Conduct Medal.

Grave marker for Lacy E. and Ruth G. Moore in Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport (Sullivan county), Tennessee,

 

Lacy registered for the draft on 16 October 1940 in Norton, VA, He was inducted into the Army in Richmond, VA on 28 October 1942.

On 6 November 19452, Pvt Moore was transferred from Camp Lee, VA to Company FD, 508th PIR.

On 5 March 1943, he was declared as a qualified parachutist.  He was appointed to the grade of Pfc on 30 June 1943.

On 18 August 1943 Pfc Moore was place on Special Duty with the Casual Company.  Ten days later he was transferred to Replacement Station 990.

SIX DISCHARGED

   Fort Knox, Ky.-- Four Kingsport men are among six upper East Tennesseans to receive honorable discharges from the Army at the Separation Center here.
   The Kingsport men include Pfc. H. Jobe, 1220 Fairview Street, Pfc. Raymond S. Dixon of Charles Street, Pfc. Lacy E. Moore of Route 3, and T/S Charles Harris, 2933 Lafayette Circle.
   T/4 Larry Minton of Route 2, Bluff City, and Sgt. Clarence A.: Parker, 1 Jr., Route 3, Church Hill, have also' been discharged.

Following his discharge from the Army, Lacy was employed as a machine operator when he married Ruth Grubb in Greendale (Washington county), VA.

It is she who lies with him in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
