Grave marker for Nunzio J. Moretti in Swampscott Cemetery, Swampscott (Essex county), Massachusetts.

Nunzio enlisted in the army at Boston, MA on 19 November 1942.

On 6 August 1943 Pvt Moretti was transferred from the Parachute School, Fort Benning, GA to the Medical Detachment, 508th PIR.

Pvt Moretti, then attached to Hq Hq, was slightly wounded in action on 26 June 1944 but chose to remain on duty.

He was promoted to the rank of Pfc on 23 August 1944.

Pfc Moretti was hospitalized as a non-battle casualty 16-31  March 1945 and then from 18 April to 12 May.  Returned to the detachment on both occasions.

His military decorations include the Combat Medic badge and the Bonze Service Arrowhead device, boyh awarded for participation in the Normandy assault.
