GEORGE S. MOSES

MOSES, George Seth, Age 87, of Lawrence passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Bronson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lawton.

George was born in Lawrence, the son of Arthur and Mildred (Sutherby) Moses, both of whom preceded him in passing. Also preceding George in passing was a brother, Max, and his very close friends, Ethlyn Phillips and Mary McDowell. George is survived by his brother, Judson Moses of Lawrence; two sisters, Naomi Beeching of Lawrence and Virginia Warsko of Watervliet; a sister-in-law, Janice Moses of Lawrence, Joseph Daniel Hill of Lawrence; several nieces, nephews and business partner at M&M Foods, Charles Moden of Lawrence.

George served his country proudly in the U.S. Army Air Forces during WWII as a paratrooper and was a life long member of the Hess-Eastman Post 174 in Lawrence. He was a former co-owner of M&M Foods in Lawrence, was formerly employed at the Whelan Insurance Agency and Dehaven's. George was a loyal supporter of the Lawrence Tigers, going to just about all of their sporting events.

The family will welcome friends from noon to 1 PM; Saturday, December 17 at the Lawrence United Methodist Church, where at 1 PM the service to honor his memory will commence. Pastors Glen Cowles and Cliff Radtke will officiate. George will be laid to rest in Hill Cemetery, Lawrence with full military rites. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in George's name be made to the Hess-Eastman Post 174. The family has entrusted the Leonard Funeral Home, Lawrence, with handling the arrangements.

George enlisted in he Army at Fort Sheridan, IL on 20 July 1944 and served as a member of Company E, 508th PIR.
