JOHN E. MUNKACSY

Grave marker for John E. Munkacsy in Plot 35-C-F-2, Saint Gertrudes Roman Catholic Cemetery, Colonia (Middlesex county), New Jersey. 

Note the inscription of "VET WW-II, 82ND AIRBORNE DIV." on the foundation of the stone.

John enlisted in the Army at Newark, NJ on 4 April 1942.

Pvt Munkacsy was transferred from the from 10th Replacement Depot to Service Company, 508th PIR on 29 September 1944 and then to Hq 1st on 21 November 1944.

Pfc Munkacsy was injured in action on 22 January 1945 and evacuated.  He returned to duty on 5 March 1945.

His military decorations include the Combat Infantryman Badge for action during campaign, 18 December 1944 to 20 February 1945.
