FREMONT J. NELDON
Marriage of Fremont Neldon
Last January is Announced

   Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Ann Bihun, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Bihun of Sabraton, W. Va., to Fremont J. Neldon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond B. Neldon of West Lafayette Route 1, on Jan. 29, 1949 in St. Mary's Russian Orthodox Catholic church in Morgantown, W. Va.
  .The double-ring ceremony was read at 2 p. m, by the Rev Nicholas N. Kobyzareff in the presence of relatives and friends. Given in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in a gown of white slipper satin with lace trimming, and a lace edged veil caught in a halo of pearls. Her flowers were gardenias in a cascade bouquet. Her maid of honor was her niece, Miss Louise Ann Varro of Gary, Ind., who wore a gown of pink satin, and lace and carried pink roses. Her head dress was of pink roses.
   Harris Gallagher of Morgantown served Mr. Neldon as best man. The altar was decorated with white gladioli and greenery. The bride's mother wore black and white while the mother of the bridegroom .appeared in royal blue, Both had pink rosebud corsages.
   A reception was held in the dining room of the Sterling Faucet company, where the large wedding cake was cut and served with other refreshments to a large group of relatives and friends. Mrs. Louis J. Varro presided at the punch bowl and the aides were Mrs. J. W. Ruby and Mrs. John J. Miller.
   Later in the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Neldon departed for a wedding trip. They are residing at 33 Orchard alley, Morgantown.
   Mrs. Neldon is a graduate of Morgantown high school and is employed In the offices of the Sterling Faucet Co. Mr. Neldon who is on the supervisory staff of the same company, served for four years in the army.
   Out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond B. Neldon, West Lafayette Route 1, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Thomas and Vicki Thomas, Coshocto.

Fremont J. Neldon

   Word has been received here of the death of Fremont J. Neldon, 64, of Morgantown, W. Va., who died Thursday at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
   Born March 18, 1920, in Coshocton, he was a son of the late Ray B. and Zelma (Robinson) Neldon. He was educated in West Lafayette, and he moved to Morgantown in 1945. He was employed at the Sterling Faucet Co. for 30 years before working at Ruby Enterprises as vice president, a position he held until his death.
   He was a member of the 17th and 82nd Airborne Division, serving as a paratrooper during World War II. He received two Bronze Stars during this period. He also was a member of the Morgantown AF and AM union lodge 4, a 32nd degree Mason, the Oriris Temple of Wheeling, W. Va., the Morgan-town Shrine Club and the Veterans of Foreign War Post 548 in Morgantown.
   Surviving are his wife, Ann (Bihun) Neldon; a son, Gary R. Neldon of Morgantown; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Pamela) Smyth of Morgantown; a sister, Mrs. Russell (Hazel) Thomas of Coshocton; and three grandchildren.
    Service was held 2 p.m. Sunday with Dr. Ross M. Evan officiating. Burial was held at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Morgantown.

Grave marker for Fremont J. Neldon in Beverly Hills Memorial Park, Morgantown (Monongalia county), West Virginia.

 

Fremont registered for the draft in Coshocton, OH on 1 July 1942 and was inducted into the Army Fort Hayes, OH on 18 February 1942.

By June 1942, Pvt Neldon was stationed with the Battery. C, 306th CABBC, in San Pedro .CA.

Within the next year he had been trained as a paratrooper and was assigned to the 541st PIR.

Pfc Neldon was transferred to Hq 3rd,m 5098th PIR and appeared in the 20 October 1945 508th PIR 3rd Anniversary book photo of men recently arrived in Hq 3rd.

He was discharged on 10 November 1945.
