AVERY R. NELSON

Grave marker for Avery R. Nelson in Woodlawn Cemetery, Knoxville (Knox county), Tennessee.

Flipping his first and middle names, Richard married Anna Mae Dyer in Anderson, TN on 10 February 1940.

Avery registered for the draft in Knoxville, TN on 16 October 1940 and was inducted into the Army at  Fort Oglethorpe, GA on 11 November 1942.

On 12 December 1942, Pvt Nelson was transferred from Camp Toccoa, GA to Hq 3rd, 508th PIR.

Pvt Nelson was transferred to the 542nd PIR on 25 November 1943.
