HERMAN F. NEVERS

(courtesy of Tiffany Stuck)

Grave marker for Herman F. Nevers in the Crouseville Cemetery, Crouseville (Aroostook county), Maine.

Herman probably enlisted in the Army in 1943 and was assigned to Service Co, 508th PIR.  On 20 October 1943 Pvt Nevers was transferred to the 69th Infantry Division at Camp Shelby, MS.

His National Archive record was updated to reflect his re-enlistment as a Pfc at Shelbyville, IN on 5 February 1945. The date of discharge is unknown.

Following his discharge, he returned to home turf and, amongst other things, devoted time to act as Scoutmaster of Troop 177, Washburn Maine (see cropped image, above right).  The town of Washburn is only 12 miles from his birthplace of Presque Isle.
