JOSEPH S. NOSAL

Grave marker for Joseph S. Nosal and spouse in Section X-1, Lot 614, Grave 1, Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga (Erie county), New York.

Joseph enlisted in the Army at Buffalo, NY on 28 December 1943.

Pvt Nosal was transferred from 82nd Airborne Division HQ to Service Company, 508th PIR on 3 October 1944.  He was subsequently transferred to Company H on 27 December 1944.

He was listed as slightly injured in action, classed as a non-battle casualty, in Belgium on 22 January 1945 and was evacuated to a field hospital.

On 5 March 1945 Pvt Nosal was aboard the Queen Mary, then acting as a hospital ship, at Greenock, Scotland.  The ship arrived in New York on 11 March 1945.  He was Listed as having "Trench foot, bilateral, moderate" [see line #3.]
   Joseph was then transferred to the Parachute Replacement Regiment, Fort Benning, GA for further treatment.

His military decorations inc include the Combat infantryman Badge for action during the campaign, 18 December 1944 to 20 February 1945.
