Alvin E. Nunes
Mr. Alvin E Nunes a native of Gustine died of natural causes Oct 28
at Livermore Veterans ’
Hospital at the age of 66.
Mr. Nunes was a resident of Tracy at his death. He worked as a
brakeman for Southern Pacific Railroad in Tracy for 23 years Mr.
Nunes lived most of his life in Newman graduating from the Newman
High School class of 1936 .He moved from Newman to Tracy in I960.
Because of his activities during World War II he received the
Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife Lena and sister Mrs. Deolinda Steward of
Tracy.
Services were held Tuesday Nov 1 at Evans Krieger Funeral Chapel in
Newman He was buried at Hills Ferry Cemetery in Newman.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at the Evans-Krieger Funeral Chapel in Newman for Alvin E
Nunes 66 who died Friday in a Livermore hospital after a long illness. Burial was in Hills Ferry Cemetery.
A native of Gustine Mr. Nunes graduated from Orestimba High School in 1936. He had lived most of his life in Newman and was a brakeman for the Southern Pacific Railroad.
He was an Army Veteran of World War II and the recipient of a Purple Heart.
He leaves his widow Lena Nunes of Tracy and a sister Deolinda Steward of Tracy.

the draft in Newman (Stanislaus), CA on 16 October 1940 and was
inducted into the Army on 16 February 1942.
Alvin served in the
504th PIR during the war but was transferred to the 508th in late
1945.
