Grave marker for James F. Oglesby in Mount Olive Baptist Cemetery, Cowpens (Spartanburg county), South Carolina.

James enlisted in the Army at Ft Jackson, Columbia, SC on 9 February 1942.

Pfc Oglesby served in both Co F and Co H, 508th PIR.  He was wounded in action in France on 29 June 1944 and evacuated to a field hospital.  Three months later he was transferred to another hospital, perhaps in the UK.

After recovery Pfc Oglesby  returned to duty and was then listed as injured in action in Belgium on 31 January 1945, possibly due to frostbite.

On 31 May 1945 he was transferred back to Co H from the 19th Reinforcement Depot.

His military decorations include the Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman badge and the Bronze service Arrowhead Device.
