HENNING O. OLSON

Henning Olson

   EAST MOLINE --- Services for Henning Olson, 77, of East Moline, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline.  Burial will be in National cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.
   Visitation is 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
   Mr. Olson died Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998 at Rosewood health Care Center, Moline.
   Henning was born Oct. 4, 1921, in Moliden, Sweden, to Herman and Edith (Schedin)
Olson.  Hew married Rose T. Prosen on Jan 26, 1946 in East Moline.
   During World War II, he served as a sergeant in the army with the 82nd Airborne Division and 508thth Parachute Infantry H Co.  He parachuted into Normandy on D-Day and participated in the battle of the Bulge.  He served in both Holland and Germany.  He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

Grave marker for Henning O. Olson in Plot: Y, 0, 77of the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island (Rock Island County), Illinois.
   Henning was a member of Company H and participated in the jump into Normandy on D-Day.
  His military awards include the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart.
