JOHN M. OROS
John M. "Pro" Oros, 80 of Aurora, passed away in his home February 1, 2001.  He was born September 8, 1920 in Aurora. His beloved wife, Genny, to whom he was married for 51 years, preceded him in death on January 27, 2000. They married on June 19, 1949.

John was a member of St. George Byzantine Church, he will be remembered by most as "Pro" or "Johnny" when he worked at The Twin-Dor (Geneva, IL) for over 20 years. He was a member of the Third Ward Club, the Aurora Amvets Post and the Italian-American Club, and a past member of the Aurora Moose Lodge #400.

Mr. Oros served in the United States Army in WWII as a member of the 82rd Air Borne Paratroopers and was a member of Eisenhower's "Elite 40". He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart during his tour of duty.

He enjoyed his woodworking and remodeling projects, following local sports and traveling to visit his beloved grandchildren.

John is survived by his four children, Mickey (Sandi) Oros, and their daughter, Ashley of Carmichael, CA; J.C. (Diane) Oros, with son, Eric and daughter, Kristen Thorp of Hinckley, IL, Gary (Trisha) Oros of Fair Oaks, CA and Juli (Dan) Drayer, and their children, Kendyl, Jordan and Chase of Longwood, FL. Also two sisters, Mica Oros and Jeanie Poriel; and two brothers, Leroy and Melvin Oros, all of Aurora, IL; a sister-in-law, Helen Pocos; brother-in-law, Louis "Bud" Pauley, both of Aurora; and a brother-in-law, Stan Gruzzesky of Chicago. He will also be remembered as Uncle John by his many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Emma Oros; one sister, Emma Pauly; and three brothers, George, Frank and Michael.

Visitation will be on Monday, February 5, 2001 at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway (Rt. 25), Montgomery, IL from 2-8 P.M. Wake service at 4 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at Dieterle Memorial Home 9:30 AM to St. George Byzantine Catholic Church of Aurora, IL. For Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. with Fr. Fredrick Peterson O.S.B, Pastor of St. George's officiating with interment in St. Michael's Cemetery in Aurora.

Grave markers for John M. Oros in the Saint Michael Cemetery, Aurora (Kane county), Illinois.

John enlisted in the Army at Chicago, IL on 1 October 1942.

Pvt (later T/5) Oros was assigned to Hq Hq, 508th.

His military decorations include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and the Bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded for his participation in the Normandy assault.
