Grave marker for Richard Ortiz in Section 12, Site 1088 of
the Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver (Denver county), Colorado.
Richard enlisted in the Army at Ft Francis E. Warren,
Cheyenne, WY on 13 December 1943.
Pvt Ortiz was transferred from HQ 82nd Airborne
Division to Service Company 5098th PIR on 26 September 1944. He
was subsequently transferred to Company A on 22 November 1944.
Pvt Ortiz was amongst those mobilized on 18 December
1944 to take part in the Battle of The Bulge.
He was wounded in action on 24 December 1944 and
evacuated. He was assigned to the field hospitals Detachment of
Patients on 24 March 1945 and did not return to the regiment. |
