ABRAHAM OYBKHAN

Abraham "Abe" Oybkhan, age 89, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2011. He was born in Bloomfield, NJ on October 8, 1921 to the late Alexander and Leah Isaacs Oybkhan.

Abe served his country in the 82nd Airborne, PIR 508, Company D. He fought during the Battle of the Bulge and the Ardennes. For his service, he was a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Abe made various jumps including one in Holland.

Later in life, he began a career as a brick pointer with Local 1BA. He was a member of the American Legion, Lawrence Roberts Post 21. He belonged to the 82nd Airborne Washington, DC Chapter and Battle of the Bulge, Brandywine Hundred Chapter. In his free time, Abe enjoyed fishing at the Indian River Inlet.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Suzanne Dwyer Oybkhan; sons John (Sandy) and Michael (Beth); grandchildren, Hannah and Lexi Oybkhan, Ryan and Tony Cirillo; brother, Ephriam Oybkhan; and nephew, David Oybkhan. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Oybkhan and sister, Sarah Oybkhan.

Services will be held 11 am on Monday, March 28, at R.T. Foard and Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. Friends and family may call on Sunday, March 27, from 6 to 8 pm. Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery following the service.
