Paul enlisted in the Army on 15 October 1943 and became a member of Company E, 508th PIR.  Pvt Pace was promoted to Pfc on 1 October 1944.

Pfc Pace was awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead Device for the Holland campaign and Airborne operations
