Richard K. Parks formerly of Greene
Richard K. Parks, age 70, of Pittsburgh, N.Y., formerly of Greene, passed away Friday, June 01, 2007, after a brief illness.
He was born in Greene, N.Y., June 23, 1936, to Kenneth and Ruth Parks.
He was a graduate of Greene Central School in 1954 and enlisted in the U.S. Army, attended airborne school at Fort Campbell, Ky., served 1 year in Japan and 3 years stateside as an Airborne MP.
He returned to Greene in 1958 with his family where he worked at the Raymond Corporation for many years in Greene and later in Plattsburgh.
After retirement, he chose to remain in Plattsburgh, N.Y., to enjoy the friendship of his close loved friends, Bill and Carol, Mary Ann, Joe and Joyce, and Phil, and his work being the "jack of all trades" for Phil Green.
He was predeceased by his father, Kenneth Parks; his sister-in-law, Mildred Pixley; his brother-in-law, Kenneth Martin; and by very close friend, Robin Moore.
He is survived by his wife, Helene Dietrich Parks; his daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Rick Brown, Greene, and grandson, Ricky; his son, Kenneth Parks and granddaughter, Chloe; his mother, Ruth Parks; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Bradley Barrows; sisters-in-law, Marlene and Dave Sherwood, Alta Martin; brothers-in-law, Art and Norma Dietrich, John and MaryAnn Dietrich; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held 4 p.m., Saturday, June 16, 2007, at Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango Street, Greene. Pastor JoAnne Lanfear of First Congregational Church, Greene, will officiate. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
