marker for Joseph C. Parrish in Peniel Cemetery,
Palatka (Putnam County) Florida. Joseph enlisted
at Camp Blanding, FL on 28 December 1942 just as the 508th was filling
the ranks of the 3rd Battalion. He was promoted to Corporal on 1 Feb
1943 immediately before the regiment went to jump school on the 5th of
the month.
He participated in the Invasion of Normandy followed
by the jump into Holland on 17 September 1944. He was promoted to
Sergeant on 22 October 1944 |
