LELAND I. PEARSON

Grave marker for Leland I. Pearson in the Dubois Cemetery, Dubois (Fremont county), Wyoming.

Leland enlisted at Douglas, WY on 24 February 1941 and following jump school was sent to England.  On 31 March 1944 Pvt Pearson was transferred from an 82nd Airborne Replacement Depot to Company G, 508th.

He was awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for his participation in the Normandy assault and a Purple Heart for a wound sustained in Holland on 19 Sept 1944. 

Note: He was reflected on 508th records through mid-May, 1945. The reference on his grave marker to the 513th PIR may reflect his transfer to facilitate transportation via troopship when he retuned to the U.S. on e points system.
