CLYDE E. PERDUE, JR.

Grave marker for Clyde E. and Annabelle L. Perdue.  Although his parachutist badge shows a combat jump star, he parachuted into both Normandy and Holland and it should therefore have a second star.

Clyde E. Perdue Jr. was drafted on November 12, 1942 and volunteered for parachutist duty.  He probably was sent directly to Camp Blanding, FL where the 508th had just formed; he was assigned to Hq 3rd.

Pvt Perdue was with the regiment when it jumped into Normandy and Holland and he was Wounded In Action during the Bulge.

Clyde also served in the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea and was discharged December 19, 1952 as a MSgt.  He died April 4, 1990

PERDUE - Clyde E., Jr., 67, Wednesday; funeral 2 p.m. Saturday; Ferguson Funeral Home, Plain City.
