WILLIAM S. PERKINS

Grave marker for William S. Perkins and spouse in the Greenwood Cemetery, Newton (Harvey county), Kansas.

William enlisted in the Army at Ft Leavenworth, KS on 18 September 1943.

On 23 July 1944 Pvt Perkins was transferred to Company D, 508th PIR from Hq 82d Airborne Division in Leicester, England.

Pfc Perkins was awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for the Holland campaign and Airborne operations.

Classed as a non-battle casualty he was hospitalized for a month in January/February 1945, perhaps due to frostbite.
