Grave marker for John Petric in Section 61, Site 1205 the Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside (Riverside county), California.

A native of Yugoslavia, John enlisted in the U.S. Army in Chicago on 22 April 1941. He participated in the D-Day jump into Normandy as a member of Company B, 508th.

Sgt Petric was wounded on 4 July 44 and later returned to the unit.

He also jumped into Nijmegen as the regiment took part in Operation Market.  He was wounded and taken prisoner and spent the remainder of the war in a P.O.W. camp.
