ALEXANDER N. PICCOLO

   Alexander N Piccolo 1923 - 2014 Alexander N Piccolo 90 of Pleasant Prairie passed away on Wednesday Nov 5 2014 at St Joseph’s Home and Rehab.
   Born on Dec 26 1923 in Kenosha he was the son of the late Arthur and Carmella (Constanti) Piccolo.
   A lifelong resident of Kenosha Alex attended local schools Alex proudly serviced his country in the U S Army as a paratrooper with the 508th Parachute Regiment He enlisted on March 25 1943 and while stationed in Normandy Northern France and Rhineland received numerous commendations. He was awarded the American Theater Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal, the Bronze Arrowhead (Normandy) and the Good Conduct Medal. Alex received his honorable discharge on May 20 1946.
   For over 30 years he was employed as a painter with AMC Chrysler Corp retiring in 1986. Alex was a member of Journey Church and the UAW Local 72 Retirees.
   He had a passion for wine making loved to sing and dance, he was always the life of the party. At gatherings and family get-togethers he made sure everyone had a great time.
   Alex also enjoyed his walks by the lake and never missed an opportunity to pay tribute to the Christopher Columbus statue.
   He is survived by two sisters, Carmella Willems and Rose Birkholz, many loving nieces and nephews especially Patty Brown Michael Gray and David Piccolo.
   In addition to his parents and wife, Alex was preceded in death by three sisters Lena Bonacce, Mary DeAngelis and Yolanda “La” Tisdale and a brother Arthur “Chick” Piccolo.
   Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov 12 2014 at 10 am at Journey Church, 10700 75th Street. Entombment with full military honors will be held in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
   A visitation for Alex will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 11th from 5 pm until 8 pm.
   In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to Seasons Hospice 8537 Solution Center Chicago IL 60677or St Joseph’s Home 9244 29th Avenue Kenosha WI 53143 would be appreciated.

Vault marker for Alexandra N. and Marion E. Piccolo in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park, Kenosha (Kenosha county), Wisconsin.

Pvt Piccolo was assigned to Company E, 508th PIR on 30 August 1943.

For reasons unknown he was removed from jump status on 3 September, just 4 days aft4re his arrival.

On 8 September, he was transferred to the 76th Infantry Division at A. P. Hill Military Reservation, VA..

Following the war, he was discharged on 20 May 1946.
