VERNON S. PLETCHER

Vernon A. Pletcher, 83, of Duncansville, PA, passed away Monday, August 9, 2010 in Altoona. He was born July 31, 1927 in Lakemont, PA, son of Abraham and Grace (Klink) Pletcher.

Vernon was a self employed successful entrepreneur, retiring at age 65. He served in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne Div., 508th Infantry during WWII.

Vernon was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Eva M. Gill and two sons, David G. and Vernon A., Jr. Surviving are three daughters, Donna J. Byrnes, Goldsboro, Carrol A. Pletcher, Camp Hill, Barbara L. Pratt, Duncansville; two sons, Roger W., Johnstown, Dennis C., Altoona; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Chamberlain, York, Bonnie Lenz, Duncansville; and one brother, Eugene, Duncansville.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg. Interment at Carson Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in honor of Vernon's great granddaughter, Jordan Faith, who has an incurable skin disorder, to: Foundation for Ichthyosis and Related Skin Types, Inc., 2616 N. Broad Street, Colmar, PA 18915.
