JOHN L. PRIESMEYER

Grave marker for John L. Priesmeyer in the Third Addition, Section 30 of the Taylor City Cemetery, Taylor (Williamson county), Texas.

John enlisted in the Army on 27 November 1939 and following basic training was stationed at Ft Clark, Kinney County, Texas, a cavalry post.

He volunteered for parachutist duty and was assigned to the 551st PIR where he became a 1st Sergeant.  On 11 February 1945, 1st Sgt Priesmeyer transferred from the 551st to Company D, 508th PIR and was wounded in action on that same day.

1st Sgt Priesmeyer transferred from the 508th PIR to the 13th Airborne Division on 28 May 1945 and, based on his grave marker inscription, served as the 1st Sergeant of Company I, 513th PIR, 17th Airborne Division.  He was discharged on 22 September 1945.
