PROSTKO, John A., of Kennedy, died Aug. 14. Anthony M. Musmanno Funeral Home, Stowe.

PROSTKO JOHN A. On Thursday, August 14, 2003, John A. of Kennedy Twp.; beloved husband of Eleanor Krucik Prostko; father of James, Jack & Jill; father-in-law of Deborah; grandfather of Amy & Jessica; also survived survived by his sister Agnes Petrillo & brother Thomas Prostko; also nieces nieces & nephews.
   He was a graduate of Stowe High School, Quarterback on the 1937 championship football team. Enlisted in the service during WWII & was a member of the 508th Parachute Regiment, 82nd Airborne. Airborne. Belonged to the unit that received a Presidential Citation for extraordinary heroism in military operations on January 7, 1945 & an award from the Kingdom of Belgium for Meritorious Service during the liberation of Belgium in 1944-45.  A recipient of the Purple Heart, also a longtime member of Teamsters 249.
   At his request there will be no visitation & interment will be private. The family appreciates the prayers & moral support given to him & us & suggests memorial contributions be sent to the charity of your choice. The family would also like to thank all of the caring staff of Manor Care in Greentree. Arrangements by Anthony Musmanno Funeral Home.

Grave marker for John A. Prostko in the Saint Mary Cemetery, McKees Rocks (Allegheny county), Pennsylvania.

John enlisted in the Army at Pittsburgh, PA on 2 May 1942.  Pvt Gordon served in Company "I", 508th PIR.  He was discharged on 10 November 1945.
