CLIFTON D. PURDY

Grave marker for Clifton D Purdy in Plot: 47, 3, 47 of the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.

Clifton enlisted at Camp Dodge, Herrold, Iowa on October 12, 1942 and volunteered for parachutist duty. 

He was sent to Camp Blanding, Florida where the 508th had just been activated and was assigned to Company C and earned the Bronze Service Arrowhead for the jump into Normandy on D-Day.

Following his discharge Clifton applied for Iowa WWII Veterans Compensation and received $417.50
