THEODORE L. QUADE

Theodore Quade Sr.
  Theodore “Ted” L. Quade Sr., 93, rural Randolph, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at the Markesan Resident Home.
   Ted was born in Milwaukee on Oct. 22, 1921, the son of Alexander and Mildred (Carter) Quade. He graduated from Randolph High School in 1939.
   Ted proudly served his country in the Company E, 508th Parachute Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division, where he was a paratrooper from November 1942 until November 1945. He participated in several jumps, including D-Day. During his time in service, he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
   Ted returned to Randolph, where he married Irmgard Quandt on Oct. 22, 1955. He was a dairy farmer for many years.
   Among his many enjoyments were gardening, wood-cutting, and playing cards. He was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Markesan.
   Ted is survived by his wife, Irmgard; his children, Ted (Georgine) Quade, Waukesha, Kent (June) Quade, Randolph, Marla (John) Scheberl, Fond du Lac; his grand- children, Nathan (Kelly) Quade, Rachel (Jake) Kearns, Samantha (Andy) Dolgner, Joe Quade, Alex Scheberl, Kyle (Jessi) Scheberl, Luke (Jenny) Scheberl; 10 great- grandchildren; and further survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Quentin (Miranda) Quade; his sister, Bernadine (Rodney) Blochwitz; and other relatives.
   A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 15, at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, N1529 Hwy. 73 in Markesan, with the Rev. Michael Schierenbeck, family friend, officiating. Burial will follow the service at Lake Maria Cemetery, town of Manchester.
   Visitation will be held prior to the service at church, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Memorials in Ted’s name may be directed to Faith Lutheran School.
   Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan, is honored to be serving the family.

Grave marker for Theodore L. Quade IN lake Maria Cemetery, Manchester (Green Lake county), Wisconsin.

Theodore enlisted in the Army at Milwaukee, WI on 11 July 1942 and was assigned to company E, 508th PIR.  His arrival date is unknown as the Morning Reports for that period are not available.

Pvt Quade was promoted to Pfc on 5 August 1944.

Pfc Quade was wounded in action in Holland on 20 September 1944 and evacuated.  He returned to duty on 16 November 1944 but was immaturely transferred to Service Company for light duty.  He returned to Company E on 26 February 1945.

His military decorations include the Purple Heart and Bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded for participation in Normandy assault.
