Edward, a native of Georgia, enlisted in the army at
Akron, OH on 4 May 1943 and was assigned to Company G, 508th PIR.
Pvt Quarles was promoted to Pfc on 19 November 1944.
He was wounded in action in Belgium on 27 December 1944.
His military decorations include the
Bronze
Service Arrowhead device awarded for the Holland campaign and Airborne
