Grave marker for Francis J. Quinn in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery,
Fort Atkinson (Jefferson county), Wisconsin.
Francis enlisted in the Army at Milwaukee, WI on 2 June 1941 and was
assigned to Company D, 508th PIR.
Although he went through the Normandy campaign without
sustaining a wound, he was wounded in action on 20 September 1944 in
Holland.
Pvt Quinn was with the regiment when it jumped into
Normandy on 6 June 1944. He was promoted to the grade of Corporal
on 19 January 1945.
His military decorations include the Purple Heart and
the Bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded for participation in the
Normandy assault, |
