Lewis E. Quintana was born in Clayton, N.M., to Jose and Josefita (Trujillo) Quintana. On Dec. 8, 1945, he married Rachel Sintas in Clayton, N.M.
Mr. Quintana worked at the Great Western Sugar factory in Johnstown and Greeley area for 32 years. He was a shift superintendent, retiring on April 1984. Mr. Quintana was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2585 and a member of St. John the Baptist Church, both in Johnstown.
Drafted into the U.S. Army, he served as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, serving on four campaigns in Normandy, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 20, 1946.
Mr. Quintana loved fishing, camping, hunting, music and playing cards. He enjoyed watching the Colorado Rockies, the Broncos and boxing matches. He loved his grandchildren.
Mr. Quintana died Saturday at North Colorado Medical
Center of a stroke.

Survivors: His wife, Rachel; two sons, Fred and wife
Priscilla Quintana and Richard Quintana, all of
Greeley; four sisters, Pauline Dominquez of Albuquerque, N.M., Marie and
husband Willie Garcia of Denver, Martina and husband Gilbert Arizmend of
Milliken, and Connie and husband Manuel Crespin of Johnstown; three
brothers and their wives, Daniel and Angie Quintana and Feliy and Viola
Quintana, all of Johnstown, and Archie and Dora Quintana of Greeley; two
grandchildren, Johnny Quintana and Stacey Crain, both of Greeley; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: a son, Johnny
Quintana; his parents; and a sister and brother in-law, Bea and Angel
Carrillo.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Stoddard Funeral home.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens.
