Born in Stettler (Alberta), Canada IN 1922, Jack entered the U.S. IN 1924 with his parents.

On 6 December 1941 he re-entered the county at Blaine, WA with Canadian Passport #154271 issued in Vancouver, BC on 27 November 1941.  The trip may have been solely to get a passport renewal.

Curiously, the 1940 Federal Census listed him as being an "American Citizen Born Abroad".  However, Jack became a naturalized citizen in Augusta, GA in Petition No. 676, under name of Jack Myers Quist while stationed with the 1261st Engineering Combat Battalion at Camp Gordon, GA.

Based on his naturalization document, Jack first enlisted in the Army on 13 January 1943.

Although there is no record of his arrival, the Morning Report for the 508th Band on 6 September 1943 stated he was transferred to the Boston Armed Forces Induction Station, 1065 Commonwealth Ave., Boston Mass for duty pending discharge at 1730 hr

The National Archives indicates that he re-enlisted on 30 October 1945 at Ft Wadsworth, Rosebank, NY.  There are no further details available on his service thereafter.

He and his wife lie in Plot: Block AA Row 1 Lot 9 Grave C, in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Ferndale (Whatcom), WA.
