ROSS G. RAMSEY
RAMSEY, ROSS GOLDEN
Passed away peacefully at his home, in Sacramento, October 12, 1998.

Preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Flora Tucker Ramsey.  Beloved father of Alice Ramsey and Rosslyn Ramsey of Sacramento.  Devoted grandfather of Allison Ramsey and Ross Hannaman McDermott.  Great grandfather of Elke McDermott.

Ross was born on November 3, 1913 in Florida, the son of James Cain and Louise (Golden) Ramsey.  The family moved to Louisville, Georgia, where he graduated from Louisville Academy,  Toss graduated from the Citadel in Charleston, SC in 1934.

He entered the U.S. Army in 1938 and served with distinction as an officer, with tours of duty in the Far east, Korea and Europe. 

While serving his country Ross was awarded the Korea Service medal with 1 Silver Service Star and 1 Bronze Service Star, the Republic of  Korea Presidential Unit Citation, the national Defense Service Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge with Silver Star, the Air medal with 9 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross.  Ross retired as a Major in 1961.

He was employed by the Directorate of Contracting and Manufacturing at Robins AFB, GA from 1962 until his retirement from Civil Service in 1991.

After retirement, Ross worked as a Hospital Volunteer,  He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Louisville GA.  Ross was a loving and devoted family man and will be missed by all who knew him.  He will be remembered for his compassion, love of nature, his laughing blue eyes and his devotion to his family.

The family requests that those who wish to make memorials donate to their favorite charity.
