Grave
marker for Curtis T. Ramzy in the Carthage Memorial Gardens (Leake
county), Mississippi. A 1940 graduate of the
Mississippi State University School of Agriculture, Curtis entered
service as a 2nd Lieutenant on 31 October 1941. His early service
record is unknown. He first appears in 508th records as a 1st Lt.
1st Lt Ramzy served as the Assistant Communications
Officer in Hq & Hq Company before being transferred to HQ 1st on 24 July
1944 where he took on the role of an Assistant Platoon Leader.
On 9 January 1945 he was evacuated to a field hospital
with a Non-Battle injury, presumably frostbite. If that was the
case, it must have been mild as he was able to rejoin the company just
three days later.
On 14 February 1945 Lt Ramzy was transferred to
Co9mpany A where he remained until he transferred to the 1091st Airborne
Division on 28 May 1945.
Lt Ramzy's military decorations include the Bronze
Service Arrowhead for the Holland campaign and Airborne operations. |
