JAMES DEWITT RANKIN

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 1997, in Christ the King Catholic Church in Milwaukie for James Dewitt Rankin, who died May 22 at age 75. Mr. Rankin was born Nov. 13, 1921, in Roseburg.

He served in the U.S. Army. He was a professor at the University of Oregon Medical Center in the 1960s. From 1971 to 1995, he owned a cytology laboratory in Milwaukie.

Survivors include his brother, Robert R. of Novato, Calif. Disposition was by cremation. Arrangements are by Telophase Society.

James enlisted in the Army at Portland, OR on 6 October 1942 and served in Hq Hq, 508th.

Pfc Ranking was awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for participation in Normandy assault.
