Joseph R. Raub died in Christiansted, Saint Croix, Virgin Islands and was buried in the Puerto Rico National Cemetery, Bayamon (Bayamon Municipality), Puerto Rico. 

Joseph enlisted in the Army on 11 April 1942. 

On 6 April 1944 he was transferred from Field Force Replacement  Depot #3 as a 1st Lt. to Company A, 508th with principal duty of executive officer.

During 1944 he also served as the assistant S-3 for both Hq 1st and the Hq Company, 1st Battalion.

On 2 September 1944 he was relieved as the assistant motor maintenance officer and transferred to Hq 1st as a platoon leader.

1st Lt. Raub was reported as MIA on 17 September 1944 and was listed as a POW that same day.  He was liberated on 21 March 1945.

Following the war he remained and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
