DONALD L. REED

(courtesy of Craig Robinson)
Grave marker for Donald L. Reed, Sr. in Section 4, Site 5464 of the Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside (Riverside County), California.

Donald enlisted in the National Guard in Buffalo, NY on September 16, 1940 and was called to service later, probably after Pearl Harbor in December 1941.

His service record was later annotated to reflect his discharge due to demobilization and his rank of T/5.

By August 1944 he had become a qualified parachutist and had arrived in England.  He was transferred on the 7th of that month to Company F, 508th in Nottingham from the 82d Airborne Division HQ, in Leicester, England.

For some reason his stay with the 508rhg was short as he was transferred to the Airborne Signal Company in Leicester on the 21st.  He did not return to the 508th.
