Grave markers for Robert H. Reed in the Springbrook Cemetery, Moscow (Lackawanna county), Pennsylvania.

Charles enlisted in the Army at Ft Hayes, Columbus, OH on 8 October 1942 and was assigned to Company A, 508th PIR.  He also briefly served in the Headquarters Company 1st Battalion between November 1943 and May 1944.

Pvt Reed jumped with his company on D-Day, 6 June 1944, and was captured by the Germans that same day. 

He was liberated from Stalag 13B and on 12 June 1945 Pvt Reed arrived in NY City Harbor aboard the USS Admiral W. S. Benson as oe of many POWs returning home.
