ASA L. REESE
Asa L. Reese was born in Beaverdam (Watauga county), North Carolina to Asa and Kate (Swift) Reese.  His birth was recorded as 6 December 1921 in the North Carolina, Birth Indexes, (1800-2000) Book 7, Page 68 fhe General Index to Vital Statistic-Births.

Asa's Draft Registration card showed that he had moved to Sugar Grove, still within Watauga county.  While his birth date was again shown as 6 December 1921, all further references (including his enlistment record and grave marker) carry the date as December 5th, not 6th. His home town was named after the sugar maple trees that grow in the area

Asa's Certificate of Death shows that he had relocated to Columbus, NC, on the South Carolina border and some 200 miles south of Sugar Grove.  A school teacher, he died at age 47 of a heart attack (myocardial infarction),
