LEROY J. REIF

]courtesy of Bill E. Doman]

Grave marker for LeRoy J. Reif in Lot 4, Cache Clawson Cemetery, Tetonia (Teton county), Idaho.

LeRoy registered for the draft in Murray, UT on 1 July 1942.  He was inducted into the Army in Salt Lake City, UT on 4 October 1942.

Pvt Reif was transferred from the Reception Center, Fort Douglas, Utah to Company A, 508th PIR on 20 October 1942,  He was transferred to Hq 1st on 28 December 1942.

Pvt Reif was probably transferred out of the regiment in March 1943 as the morning reports of Hq1st are the only month not available for that company in 1943.  He apparently ended up in a unit fighting in the Pacific as evidence by this news article.

   To  Sergeant:

LeRoy J. Reif, son of Mrs. Hazel M. Hillyard, Dragerton, Carbon county, promoted in Philippines.  A former employee at Wasatch Foundry Works, he entered service in October, 1942.  A sister, Fern Reif, is serving with the WAVES, and a brother, Jack Reif, serves in the navy.

Sgt  Reif was discharged on 15 November 1945.
