FRANK A. RAMBO

RIPELLINO - Angelo A. Ripellino "Rip", age 78 of Columbus, formerly of Akron, peacefully passed away on July 11, 2002. He was born August 1, 1923 in Akron, Oh. He was preceded in death by his parents Giacomo, Angelina and Florence Ripellino. Beloved husband for 57 years of Josephine (Donatelli). The greatest and most loving father to his sons, Michael G. Ripellino (wife, and favorite cook of North Carolina, Louise) and James A. Ripellino, PhD. (wife, and his Irish Rose, of N.Y.C, Myke) and only daughter, Renee Merullo (son-in-law and golfing buddy, Fortunato) of Columbus, OH. Dearest and proudest grandfather of Fortunato Merullo, Nicole Ripellino, Michael Ripellino and foster grandchild Todd Osborne. His only brother Carmen (Ayn) Ripellino, sister-in-law, Peggy Bormet, Mildred Donatelli and Red Donatelli, all from Akron. Many nieces, nephews, friends and special in laws, "The Merullo Clan".

He served 3 years as a paratrooper and sharpshooter in the Army's 82nd Airborne, fighting for the U.S. in World War II. Surviving D-Day as a member of the Red Devils of the Troup 508 infantry.

He was one of the original "Bailey Bashers". He graduated from Akron's North High School. He retired after 43 years of service with the Canteen Corporation. Following his retirement from Canteen he worked at his favorite places of solitude, the golf course and the 19th hole.

The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, 2002 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, OH 43221. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2002 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1899 McCoy Rd., Upper Arlington, Oh. Those who wish may contribute to the Alzheimer's Association of Central Ohio, 3380 Tremont Road, Columbus, OH 43221, in his memory.
