WAYNE R. RODIE
Wayne R. Rodie 1924 - 2011 TIMKEN — Wayne R. Rodie, 86, died Oct. 28 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center in Great Bend. He was born Nov. 11, 1924, at Timken, the son of Alexander and Clara (Scheuerman) Rodie. He married Elsie Richter July 21, 1950, at Otis. She died Feb. 23, 1991.

A lifetime Timken resident, he was a farmer and stockman, mechanic, and oilfield pumper. Mr. Rodie was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Otis; American Legion, Timken; and Veterans of Foreign Wars, La Crosse.

Survivors include two sons, Kenny Rodie and his wife Mary of Parsons, and Paul Rodie of Great Bend; four daughters, Mary Smith and her husband Dennis of Albert, Janet Elsen and her husband Stan of Timken, Faye Herrman and her husband Neal of Great Bend, and Elizabeth Risley and her husband Albert of Wichita; two brothers, Richard Rodie and his wife Virginia of Ness City, and Alexander Rodie Jr. of Fort Dodge; 13 grandchildren, Kimberly Rodie, Julie Risley, Emily Risley, Kelsey Rodie, Shane Rodie, David Elsen, Ryan Elsen, Chris Rodie, Joshua Rodie, Jeremy Rodie, Daniel Herrman, Dalton Rodie, and Brock Rodie; and four great-grandchildren, Tiffany Hecker, Jordan Sohm, Ethan Elsen and Owen Elsen. He was preceded in death by one son, Samuel Rodie; two brothers, Robert Rodie and Vernon Rodie; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Wylie.

Prayer service will at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Otis, with Pastor Bruce Adamson officiating. Interment will be at Otis Lutheran Cemetery, Otis. Visitation will be 1-9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice Care of Kansas or Rush County EMS, in care of the funeral home.
