EMANUEL F. ROGERS

Emanuel registered for the draft on 16 October 1940 and was inducted into the Army on 4 January 1943.  He was assigned to Hq 1st, 508th PIR.

Pfc Rogers was wounded in action on 4 July 1944 and evacuated.  He rejoined the company on 28 August 1944.

He was transferred to Service Company on 17 December 1944.

Emanuel married Doris M. Adcock in Basford. Nottinghamshire, England in July, 1945.

Pfc Rogers was discharged on 19 December 1945.

On 4 March 1947, Doris and her infant daughter Karen arrived in New York, NY aboard the SS Washington (seen at right in NY harbor).

 

 

On 25 January 1950, Emanuel submitted this application for the Pennsylvania WWII Veterans Bonus.  He was credited with 12 months of domestic duty and 24 months of foreign service which earned him a $480 bonus, just $20 shy of the maximum allowable.

His military decorations include the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantrymen Badge awarded for action during Normandy, France Campaign, 6 June 1944 to 9 July 1944.
