Rogers Roland "Beans" J. age 75 formerly of Mpls. Beans was
a proud member of the 101st and 82nd Airborne, 508 P.I.R. He served in
President Dwight D. Eisenhower's Honor Guard in Germany after WWII and
was injured when his chute failed while on training in Germany.
Beans graduated from the University of Minnesota. He was
a 3rd degree member of Council 7159 of the Knights of Columbus, The
American Legion, and the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Beans was an
avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, training his dogs and
playing golf. He was known as a fighter with the heart of a tiger and
could tell a joke with the best of them.
He is preceded in death by wives Marian and Rowena;
Mother Elizabeth M., and Father John C.; Sister Lorraine Lijewski;
brothers Clem, Bert, Fran, and Verne. Survived by ex-wife Mary Jane;
daughters, Theresa and Mary; sons, James Christopher (Anita), and Doug
Emery; grandsons, Matthew and Brandon; step-son, Jim Fair; sisters,
JoAnne and Cleo; brothers, Clifford and Gerald.
Mass of Christian Burial Thursday 10 AM at Our Lady of
Lourdes, 1 Lourdes Place, Mpls. Visitation Wednesday 5-8 PM with prayers
at 7 PM at Rainville Brothers Chapel, 2301 Central Avenue NE, Mpls.
Chapel prayers 9:30 AM Thursday. Interment Fort Snelling National
Cemetery. Family and friends may gather at the Bloomington VFW, 2731 E.

Minneapolis (Hennepin County), Minnesota.
Roland enlisted in the
Army at Ft McClellan, AL in 1946. He volunteered for parachutist
duty and was assigned to the 508th PIR, Company "I" in
Frankfurt, Germany. He was injured on a training jump stationed
there. |
